DMARC is now RFC 9989, published May 2026. It tests whether the visible From domain aligns with SPF or DKIM.
Relaxed alignment is the default, so a matching subdomain can pass. Strict alignment requires an exact domain match.

“Missing” means the message reached neither folder. The table shows an 11.6% point difference between the highest and lowest inbox placement rates. Gmail recorded the highest inbox placement at 87.2%, while Microsoft recorded the lowest at 75.6%.
These figures provide useful context, but they are not a forecast for your own campaigns. The benchmark combines data from many senders, lists, domains, and sending programs.

Unlike Google, Yahoo does not publish a specific daily volume threshold. All senders must authenticate their email using SPF or DKIM at minimum.
Bulk senders face additional authentication and unsubscribe requirements. They must implement both SPF and DKIM for their sending domains. They must also publish a valid DMARC policy with at least p=none.
Yahoo requires bulk senders to keep spam complaint rates below 0.3%. It also requires one-click unsubscribe for applicable marketing messages.
Microsoft brought Outlook.com into line with Google and Yahoo on 5 May 2025. Domains sending more than 5,000 messages a day now need SPF, DKIM and DMARC to pass. Non-compliant mail goes to junk first, then gets rejected with error 550 5.7.515.
