Quick Review

I don’t have a design background, so anything that involves designing doesn’t really come naturally to me. That’s why JotForm’s huge library of professional-looking templates was a boon for me while creating online forms.

The drag-and-drop interface is convenient, and all the tools are super easy to use. Overall, it took me just about 10 minutes to understand their form builder and create my own form.

Now, it’s time to go into the details.

I’m going to discuss four form widgets that I found very helpful in this review section.

  • Inventory in Form Widgets: By adding JotForm’s Inventory widget to your online forms, you can add the total number of items that you have left in stock.
  • It blocks users if they select the option once you’re out of stock. You can also use this widget to make sure you don’t overbook your events.

JotForm Review: How to Use the Form Builder

We’ve talked about all the key features in theory till now. How about we try them out for real? In this review section, let’s see what it is like to create your own online form with JotForm.

I’m going to create a simple form using their template library, nothing too advanced. But it will give you an idea of the platform interface.

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Click on the “Create Form” option on the JotForm dashboard.

Step 2: Choose how exactly you’d like to design your form. For this review, I am going to go ahead with a template.

Step 3: In this step, you get to choose the type of template you’d want to design. There are thousands of options, and picking one can be a little overwhelming.

On the left-hand side of the screen, you can see all the template types listed together. I’m going to design a feedback form for this review.

Step 4: There are sub-categories within the parent category of “Feedback Forms.”

I am impressed by the number of options they have. In total, they have 771 templates within the Feedback Forms category.

From exit interview questionnaire forms to customer satisfaction survey forms and training evaluation, they have it all.

Let’s try to make a form for getting feedback on an event.

Step 5: JotForm shows you a readymade along with customization options on the left. I am going to try to add a field that asks for a user’s name.

As you can see in the screenshot below, there is a direct option for it. Also, it is worth noting that you can add your own logo too by clicking the option at the top of the form.

Step 6: I want to add the field at the top of the form. To do that, select the field before it. I selected the “Event Feedback” box since I want the category placed under it.

Step 7: I am quite happy with the other fields given in the form template. So, I’ll let it be as it is. To create the form, I clicked on the “Publish” option at the top.

Step 8: That’s it! The form link is ready. I can directly share it on social media platforms or via emails. There is also an option to embed it on my website.

Here, JotForm also has options to print the form submission, respond to it, or forward it.

A. If you want to downgrade your JotForm account, your data will not be affected. It will stay securely stored as long as it doesn’t go over the total submission storage range for free accounts which are 500.

However, if you go over the monthly limit on your downgraded plan, your forms will get disabled.

To check your data storage level, you can take a look at the account icon on the right side of the page at the top when you are logged in. You can also review the progress bars there.

What’s the Final Verdict?

Building online forms for your website requires time, patience, and some technical know-how. JotForm aims to make sure that the lack of technical knowledge is not a restrictive factor for anyone who wants to design their own form.

And, it succeeds in doing that.

The process of creating your form on the platform is quite smooth. In fact, I was surprised to see the number of use cases that the platform provides in its template library.

It’s brilliant!

Plus, you can customize your form to your taste and requirements. Mind you, in the Free plan, you’ll end up with forms that showcase the JotForm branding.

But I think that’s something you can overlook.

After all, they are offering a lot of other great options in the Free plan. So, I am not going to deduce any points in the JotForm review for it.

Other limiting factors?

The pricing plans may seem slightly more expensive than other form builders out there. That brings us to the question:

Do the pros make up for the cons?

Definitely!

It is extremely user-friendly, offers great template options, and also has payment integrations. If you are creating forms for your website, you should absolutely give it a try!
